How Often Should You Trim?
Most rabbits need a nail trim every 4-6 weeks. Light-colored nails are easier since you can see the pink quick (blood supply). Dark nails require more caution and a flashlight can help illuminate the quick.

Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1: Position Your Rabbit
The burrito wrap method works best for most rabbits. Gently wrap your bunny in a towel with one paw exposed. This keeps them calm and prevents kicking. Having a helper hold the rabbit while you clip makes the process easier.
Step 2: Identify the Quick
The quick is the pink blood vessel inside the nail. On light nails, you can see it easily. Clip at least 2mm away from the quick. On dark nails, use a flashlight behind the nail to spot it, and trim small amounts at a time.
Step 3: Clip at a 45-Degree Angle
Make quick, confident clips at a 45-degree angle. Hesitating or squeezing slowly can crack the nail. Trim one paw at a time if your rabbit gets stressed, and take breaks between paws.
Step 4: Handle Accidents Calmly
If you nick the quick, stay calm. Apply styptic powder or cornstarch directly to the nail tip with gentle pressure. The bleeding should stop within a minute or two.
